Paice, O’Loan And Worthington Fight Hard For Moto1 Motorcycles KTM At ProMX Maitland
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Racing Team were on track for Round 4 of the ProMX Championship at Maitland NSW, the Hunter Valley circuit hosting the first two day racing format of the 24’ season across the weekend of the 25th and 26th May.
MX3 Class stand out and emerging talent so far in 2024 Deacon Paice encountered his first Round of adversity and issues at Maitland. After Qualifying in 3rd position from his MX3 qualifying group, Paice would crash hard early in opening MX3 class Moto on Saturday, bruising his shoulder in the process. Paice would remount and finish a commendable 12th position at the chequered flag.
Returning for Sunday, Paice would again showcase his race leading speed, taking the WP Suspension Holeshot award and leading early. The shoulder bruising however would slow his progress and by the mid way mark, Paice would be relegated from the race lead, toughing out a solid 6th position. With the track at it’s roughest in Moto 3, Paice would endure the final race to come home in 11th place anc claim 10th Overall for Round 4.
“This weekend was a tough one”, commented Paice.
“I felt great but once we crashed in Moto 1 it was a big push for me to get through. My shoulder is not injured but I was in just enough pain to make it hard to have endurance on the rough track here at Maitland. We did damage control and left with solid points keeping me in the Top 5 in the Championship at the halfway mark”, concluded Paice.
Zac O’Loan showed great improvements at Maitland, culminating in a season best 10th place in Moto 1 on Saturday. Riding to a consistent 15th in Moto 3, crashes in Moto 2 were the only thing standing between O’Loan and a better overall finish for the Round.
“I’m so happy with my 10th place in Moto 1”, said O’Loan.
“Moto 2 really made it difficult to have a solid overall position for the Round, but my riding, fitness and confidence is improving and I’m really happy with everything”, concluded O’Loan.
In the KTM GROUP 65cc MX Futures class, young Chase Worthington would showcase massive holeshots across the weekends racing, finishing a respectable 6th place overall.
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Racing Team now focuses on the Round 5 and the final race of the Sunshine State Motocross Series taking place at MX Farm on the weekend of June 1st and 2nd.
