Moto1 Motorcycles KTM’s Presence Grows at ProMX R6 Toowoomba

The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team continues to deliver solid ProMX Championship results whilst growing a support team footprint for international riders, with Toowoomba showcasing the largest rider line up so far in 2024.

In the MX3 Class, Deacon Paice continues to impress at the head of the team. Paice showcased his trademark starts in MX3 Moto 1, heading down the skyline hill at Toowoomba in 3rd place on the opening lap. As a lead rider crashed in front of Paice, he had nowhere to go and was entangled in a multi rider pile up. Remounting in last position, Paice would put on an incredible charge back to 9th position.

Regrouping in Moto 2, Paice would deliver a 5th position, leading to 7th overall and maintaining his 5th place in the MX3 Class championship leaving Toowoomba.

MX3 Team mate Zac O’Loan would unfortunately enter Toowoomba with Tonsilitis and limited energy. After qualifying in a season best 10th place, lack of energy would relegate Zac outside of the top 10 at the halfway mark of each moto, leading to an eventual 22nd place overall.

Darcl Whalley returned to the ProMX Championship for the second Round in a row with the MXW Class featuring their 3rd Round of the Championship. Unfortunately for Whalley, a huge crash early in Moto 1 would relegate her to 11th position in the Moto and after consulting with the team, it was decided that it was best to sit out Moto 2 after a badly bruised leg was causing Darci discomfort.

The Moto 1 Motorcycles KTM Support program continues to grow in 2024, with New Zealand based riders Phoenix Van Dusschoten and Cooper Philips both running under the program for Toowoomba.

Moto1 Motorcycles Dealership owner Shane Fretwell commented on the growth of the Support Team platform at Toowoomba. “As a dealership based Race Team I feel it’s important to not only field our factory backed KTM Australia riders, but to also give a level of opportunity and support to those riders looking to compete in ProMX,” said Mr Fretwell.

“New Zealand is a real hot spot for Moto right now and many of these riders are using the Sunshine Coast as a base for their training programs. We can provide infrastructure and most importantly, representation of our brands and partners on the track to continue to grow both our racing footprint and participation in ProMX racing.”

The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team now shift their focus to Round 7 of the ProMX Championship at MX Farm, on Sunday August 11th.
