Moto 1 Motorcycles Honda Team Navigates Midseason Injuries At ProMX Maitland

The Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Racing Team in collaboration with Honda Australia has successfully fielded the New Zealand rider trio of Phoenix Van Dusschoten (MX3), Rian King and Curtis King (MX2)  throughout the first half of the 2024 ProMX Championship.

With solid results on track and the Moto1 Motorcycles dealership racing program providing great infrastructure for the New Zealand Honda supported riders, Maitland and Round 4 proved to be a disappointing Round as prior to the gates dropping, both Van Dusscheton and Rian King would be relegated to the sidelines with injury.

Van Dusschoten would suffer a thumb related injury last week requiring a small surgery procedure and ruling him out of contention for the next few weeks.

“I am gutted to say I’ll be missing Round 4 of ProMX in Maitland due to a practice crash that required me to have thumb surgery. My goal is to be back for the Queensland State Championships in the coming weeks”, commented Van Dusschoten.

Ironically Rian King also suffered a finger injury that became an issue at Maitland on Friday prior to Round 4, forcing him to withdraw from the event.

“We will have more news to comment on Rian’s injury in the coming days”, said Moto 1 Motorcycles Dealership owner Shane Fretwell.

“It’s a shame between both Moto 1 Motorcycles and the Honda Australia support that our New Zealand based riders are struggling with injuries, especially with the effort they make to travel so far to race in ProMX. But that is a part of the sport and we look forward to seeing both Phoenix and Rian return to racing soon”, concluded Mr Fretwell.

Curtis King was the solo rider on track for the Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team, where he would place in 23rd Overall at ProMX Round 4.
