Whalley Maintains SSMX MXW Class Championship Red Plate At Round 4

Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Development Team rider Darci Whalley continued her fine form on the 2025 season with another consistent performance at Warwick, from Round 4 of the Sunshine State Motocross Championship. Placing 2nd Overall on the day, Whalley maintains her MXW Class Red Plate after two weekends of back to back racing.

After Saturday’s racing was cancelled due to inclement weather on Friday evening, Whalley and the other MXW Class riders were presented with extremely heavy conditions to start the day on Sunday.

Feeling comfortable in the mud, Whalley would impress early, setting the fastest Qualifying time in the MXW Class heading into the first Gate Drop.

Claiming 2-2 Moto scores on the day and 2nd Overall from Round 4, Whalley maintains her MXW Class Championship lead heading into Goondawindi for round 5.

“Today was challenging with the mud, but I really enjoy those conditions”, said Whalley.

“2nd Overall was solid for the Championship and I’ve really enjoyed back to back racing weekends with the SSMX Championship, thanks to the clubs and everyone involved along with the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team”, concluded Whalley.

Darci Whalley and the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Development Team now focus on Round 5 of the Sunshine State Motocross Championships, taking place at Goondawindi on the weekend of June 7th and 8th.

Podiums And Red Plates For Moto1 Motorcycle KTM At SSMX Toowoomba

The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Junior Development Team took to the Sunshine State Motocross Championship podium across the weekend of Round 3 at Toowoomba, with Joe Thurlby taking out 2nd Overall in the 65cc 7-U10 Class and Darci Whalley claiming 2nd Overall in the MXW Class on Sunday.

Joe Thurlby rode to consistent finishes at the front of the 65cc 7-U10 Class, allowing him to claim 3rd Overall for Round 4 at Toowoomba. After Qualifying in a promising 6th position in his 85cc Class, an early race collision and crash in Opening Moto would see Thulby’s bike damaged and unable to compete in the remaining 85cc races.

“It was a day of highs and lows at Toowoomba. I achieved some more of my goals for the season with the 65cc class 2nd Overall and learned a lot across the weekends racing,” said Thurlby.

Rowdy Rabjones posted 6th Overall in the 65cc 10-U12 Class along with 12th Overall in the 85cc 9-U12 Class. With bad starts and crashes hindering his performance on the day, Rowdy looks to rebound for Warwick whilst taking valuable lessons from the challenging Toowoomba track.

Young Darby Clift pushed through an incredible performance where a mid week crash left the young rider with a broken hand.

Unaware of the extent of the injury heading into Toowoomba, the youngster pushed through practice qualifying 11th before feeling pain and withdrawing from the event, where a hospital visit confirmed the fractured hand and some well deserved recovery time.

On Sunday, Darci Whalley was able to reclaim the WMX Class Red Plate for the first time in 2025 with a fantastic 2nd Overall on the day.

Posting 3-2 Moto scores against some of the fastest professional female races in the country, Whalley pushed through crashes in Moto 2 to make it happen.

“I had a few crashes in Moto 2 but was able to stay cool and rebound for 2nd in the Moto and 2nd overall. To take the points lead here at Toowoomba wrapped up a great day of racing”, said Whalley.

The Moto1 Motorycles KTM Junior Development Team now set their focus on Warwick, in a short turn around for Round 4 of the SSMX Championship this coming weekend of May 17th and 18th.

Whalley Achieves Career Best MXW Class Result For Moto1 Motorcycles KTM At ProMX Round 3

Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Development Team rider Darci Whalley pushed to a career best 6th Overall at Gillman, for Round 2 of the MXW Class Championship of the 2025 ProMX schedule.

Returning to a traditional two moto format following the Opening Round international inclusion of the FIM Women’s Oceania Motocross Cup, the MXW Class resumed business as usual at Gillman, with the red sand of South Australia allowing Whalley to demonstrate her speed and intensity from the start of the day.

Posting the 6th fastest time in Qualifying, Whalley started Moto1 with a top 5 start and would battle with numerous riders to race ahead and maintain 5th place at the finish line.

Moto 2 saw much of the same from Whalley who battled hard to come home with 5-5 Moto scores on the day and 6th Overall.

“I have a lot of positives to take away from Gillman and I have been working hard to find my speed and show my potential at ProMX and I felt that this weekend we achieved that”, said Whalley.

“I struggled last year at Murray Bridge in the same conditions so to come back to the Adleaide round and have some redemption this year feels great and I’m excited for Round 3 at Toowoomba back in my home state of Queensland,” concluded Whalley.
