Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Junior Development Team Announced For 2025 Season
For Immediate Release
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team today unveils their 2025 Junior Development Team ahead of the upcoming season, with riders primed and ready to go across Regional, State and National Championships.
Shifting focus in 2025, the Moto1 Motorcycles program has returned to its roots, opting to house a junior development program in 2025 as opposed to both a National pro and junior team from the last few years.
A duo of new faces to the program will fly the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM flag in the 65cc/85cc classes with the #21 of Rowdy Rab Jones fresh off a return from competition in the USA, along with #33 Joe Thurlby.
Lewis Fretwell will once again return with the team outfit, the #32 riding both the 125cc Class and the Big wheel 85cc class.
Youngster Darby Clift #20 will round out the junior roster of riders, competing in the 50cc classes this season.
Moto1 Motorcycles owner Shane Fretwell, commented on the new direction for 2025;
“For the past few seasons we have run multiple teams across manufacturers and different levels of racing from ProMX and Supercross through to local junior racing.”
“I love racing and at Moto1 Motorcycles it is who we are and why we do what we do. However, with our dealership footprint growing, we had to make a choice this year to not over commit with our racing programs and focus on a local program for 2025, with the intention to return to ProMX competition in the short future”.
“We have a fantastic group of families and young riders who I know will vastly benefit from the Team infrastructure and sponsorship support that has been provided by Moto1 Motorcycles and our partners. I am very excited to see them in action this coming weekend at the Sunshine State Motocross Championship”, concluded Mr. Fretwell.
KTM Australia returns to support the Team along with FOX, 6D, Pirelli, Motorex, RK Chains, Kustom MX Graphics, 100% Goggles.
In an exciting collaboration, with LCL Racing ownership now incorporating both Moto1 Motorcycles and MPE Suspension, there will be increased rider support via the team from WP Australia and MPE Suspension in 2025.
Finally the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team will see the return of sole senior rider Darci Whalley return to the program for 2025.
Whalley, the defending 2024 Sunshine State WMX Class Champion is thrilled to resign for this season;
“Shane and the Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team really stepped up for me in 2024 and I am very excited to be back again for this year. My speed didn’t translate to results at the ProMX level, but we had great success regionally taking out the SSMX #1 plate and I’m excited to build on that momentum this year with added support from MPE Suspension”.
The Moto1 Motorcycles KTM Team will debut this coming weekend at Kilcoy for the Opening Round of the Sunshine State MX Series.
