Hunter Lawrence heaps praise on Kyle Webster ahead of MXoN
With excitement building as the prestigious 2024 FIM Motocross of Nations at Matterley Basin to be held in October draws closer, Hunter Lawrence gave his thoughts on the showpiece and how pumped he is to be racing alongside not only his brother, Jett Lawrence, but also Kyle Webster, as part of Team Australia. Given Australia announced their team last week on the same day as Jett’s injury was revealed, which thankfully won’t keep him out of racing in England, hopes are high that the Aussies can win their first ever MXoN crown after going second and third in the previous two events.
“I think we have a really good team. Obviously America’s going to have a pretty not too bad team the way it’s looking. France will obviously be strong. Holland and Belgium will be really strong. It’s exciting. I think it’s an iconic race. Nations is one of the other races we look forward to. I know there’s no money or anything like that and there’s no bonuses and stuff, which is whatever. But there’s so much pride and patriotism to ride for your country. This race, it’s just epic, you know, it’s so badass,” Hunter insisted in the RedBud post-race press conference.
Moreover, seeing as ProMX MX1 championship frontrunner Webster has performed superbly in the recent AMA Pro Motocross rounds at Southwick and RedBud by securing 10th overall at the former and eighth at the latter, the #96 was delighted at the prospect of contesting the MXoN with the 28-year-old.
“Yeah it’s awesome. He rode really good. I had to pass him in the second moto, which was cool. ‘I’m like yeah go you good thing, you know, like get up there, get some laps under your belt this is unreal’ and we’re already talking about him coming over to the farm after, you know. He’s leading the Australian MX1 Series so as soon as that’s done we’re like ‘hey got your flights booked mate, come over and let’s get you on the 250 and get to training, you know, we’d love to win this thing’,” Hunter explained.
In with their best chance yet as they look to finally take home the Chamberlain Trophy, watching how the Aussies fare will be fascinating with this talented triumvirate leading the charge.
