The highly anticipated Round 2 of the HONDA Sunshine State MX Series held at Gympie’s MX Farm saw huge entry numbers across both days of racing. With Saturday seeing huge rider number clearing the mud from the track and the rain holding off overnight, all eyes were on MX Farm for Sunday as the Junior lites, MX1 & MX2 Pro, Expert and Clubman classes took to the track.

Honda MX1 Pro:

The HONDA MX1 Pro Class was for all intents and purposes a continuation of the opening Round of ProMX just one week prior.

The battle was on from the gatedrop between our podium place finishers, showing us just why they are Australia’s best for a reason.

It was a tough day for Kirk Gibbs, with a small mistake landing Kirk in the mud in the opening Moto, however the number #5 still managed to bring his GasGas machine home to 3rd place overall, as the Raceline Husqvarna team mates of Todd Waters and Jack Mather would both succumb to a first turn pile up in the final Moto, ruling out their chances for the overall podium placings.

HRC’s Kyle Webster struggled with poor track position from the start of Moto1, but managed to redeem himself to take home the Red Plate and second overall following his consiotency in the 3 Moto format.

Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout came out on top. Clout was fast all day and posted 1-2-1 Moto Scores to beat out the compeition. After a near-crash in the last moto Luke rode strong to hold off the rest of the pack to take the overall win.

1st- Luke Clout
2nd- Kyle Webster
3rd- Kirk Gibbs

Motul MX2 Pro:

In typical MX2 Pro Class fasion, the three race format provided insanely close racing and varied results inside the Top 10 from each gate drop, leading to a scramble to figure out the overall placings.

Jayce Cosford would claim 3rd overall on the count back, after tying for points with Jack Mather and Byron Dennis.

Yamalube Yamaha’s Ryder Kingsford managed to avoid the chaos in the final moto to bring the Yamaha machine home in P2 overall.

Out front, it was HRC’s Brodie Connolley, who started the day with a hard fought 8th place and then moving to the podium in the proceeding Moto’s to land  8-3-1 Moto scores and take the overall win on the day.

1st- Brodie Conolley
2nd- Rhyder Kingsford
3rd- Jayce Cosford

Honda Junior Lites 4Stroke:

Tricky conditions made for a slippery and technical track, which didn’t stop Peter Wolfe from setting the fastest time in qualifying.

Both Lachlan Allen and Peter Wolfe, who competed in both days, would both finish on the podium stating the track was much more technical than the previous day.

Jackson Fuller took out the Overall Win and the Red Plate. Jackson got great starts from the line, and rode strong to stay out the front of the pack.

2nd- Peter Wolfe
3rd- Lachlan Allen

Lucas Civil MX2 Expert:

The last Moto put on a show for the crowd, as the battle was on between Wyatt Delangen and Jet Williams after Jet made a mistake, Wyatt took advantage to pass.

Koby Hantis, fresh from ProMX last weekend took home the Red Plate and Overall Win, not without a battle with the other strong riders in the field.

Heatwave Visuals MX1 Clubman

The tricky track conditions and a unanimous vote for a shortened race left the MX1 Clubman class with a 3 lap all-in sprint to the finish.Cayden Hall was strong all day, and after a brilliant start in the final Moto, Cayden was able to bring it home to the top step of the podium.

Honda MX2 Clubman
