Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki Show Resilience at Warwick ProMX
The Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki Team fought through a gritty day of racing at Round 5 of the 2025 ProMX Championship, held in the rough loamy conditions of Warwick, Queensland. With both Luke Clout and Rhys Budd returning to competition after a turbulent Round 4, the team showed strong signs of progress as the Championship entered its second half.
In the Kawasaki MX1 Class, Luke Clout entered Warwick looking to rebound from his Traralgon concussion withdrawal, qualifying 5th in MX1. Despite battling with setup challenges in the SuperPole session and ending it in 8th, Clout found more flow as racing got underway.
In Moto 1, Clout pushed through to secure a solid 7th place before improving to 5th in Moto 2, earning 6th Overall for the round. Clout now sits 6th in the MX1 Championship standings heading into Round 6.
“I struggled with bike settings and finding comfort, we made a big change after SuperPole and it took me a while to adjust,”
“The team made some positive changes, and we improved across the Motos. We’ll come back stronger at Canberra where the hard-pack conditions suit me better,” said Clout.
In the MX2 Class, Rhys Budd showed heart and determination in his return from injury at Warwick. After qualifying 10th in MX2, a first-turn crash in Moto 1 saw Budd remount and charge back through the pack to finish 11th. He backed that up with a 10th place in Moto 2 for 10th Overall on the day.
“Today was frustrating as I had good speed but struggled to maintain intensity throughout the Moto’s due to the time off between Rounds.”
“I’m looking forward to more bike time before Canberra to get back to full race fitness,” commented Budd.
Team Owner Tyson Cherry reflected on the round:
“We made gains today under tough conditions. Both Luke and Rhys dug deep, and the progress they made will pay off in the coming rounds. We’re proud of the effort and will be regrouping to come out swinging in Canberra.”
Penrite Racing Go24 Team Green MX3 rider Cooper Rowe showed impressive speed throughout the day but was sidelined by crashes in both motos, ruling him out of MX3 Class contention.
