Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Team Announced In Collaboration With Honda Australia
For Immediate Release
Moto1 Motorcycles will expand its Professional and State based racing relationship with Honda Australia in 2024, with the announcement today of the Moto1 Motorcycles Honda Racing Team.
This collaborative effort with Honda Australia will see Moto1 Motorcycles provide resources and infrastructure to three New Zealand based riders who will be competing in the 2024 ProMX Championship and the Honda Sunshine State MX Series.
With a family name needing no introduction, including a 500cc World Championship from Father Shane, the second generation of King Brothers, Rian and Curtis King, will compete in the MX2 class in 2024.
Joining the King Brothers is young NZ talent Phoenix Van Dusschoten, who will compete in the MX3 class, completing the trio of riders.
For Rian King, 2024 comes off the back of a great year in the MX3 class at ProMX, where he spent the second half of the season based on the Gold Coast in QLD, training and learning the Australian Motocross landscape.
“I’m very excited to get back to Australia to compete across ProMX and the Sunshine State series. I made great progress last season and to be working with the Moto1 Motorcycles dealership gives us such great support to enhance our relationship with Honda and allow us to go racing so far away from home” commented Rian King.
Curtis King has spent less time racing in Australia compared to his brother, but is equally excited for the gate to drop at Wonthaggi in a few weeks time.
“ProMX as a Championship looks great with the tracks and size of the events. We are lucky to be spending so much time in Australia this year with the Sunshine State series and the Moto1 Motorcycles dealership being based on the Sunshine Coast, it doesn’t get much better than that”, said Curtis King.
For Shane Fretwell, the owner of the Moto1 Motorcycles dealership based in Maroochydore QLD, the racing program expansion sets the stage for a huge 2024 for the Moto1 brand.
“We are very passionate about racing at Moto1 Motorcycles and we are very fortunate to have such a great relationship with Honda Australia as a dealer of their Motorcycles”, commended Fretwell.
“With a National racing footprint already in place with our existing race team, it made sense for us to support the New Zealand backed contingent of riders in collaboration with Honda Australia. The more bikes we can have on the track that align with our partners is only going to benefit Racing in Australia as a whole. We are committed to growing the sport at a participation level via our dealership and secondly by association, the racing numbers in QLD and Nationally” concluded Fretwell.
The Moto1 Motorcycles HONDA Racing Team will debut at the opening of the ProMX Championship at Wonthaggi, Victoria on March 17th.
